Give a brief description of the story.
Evie Davenport works as a servant at the Mail-Order Brides of the West Agency and longs for a match of her own. Because she’s illegitimate, she’s not considered to be of the moral standing required by the owner of the agency. Evie steals a prospective groom’s application letter and travels to Montana to become the bride of rancher Chance Holcomb. Fearful city girl Evie has quite an adjustment to life on a lonely ranch, but she’s fallen in love with her husband and is determined to make a good wife. Chance finds it hard to believe a pretty woman like Evie will be content on a ranch in the middle of nowhere. When another man pays her some attention, he jumps to some interesting conclusions.
Despite their initial attraction, both the hero and the heroine face challenges in being honest with each other and opening up to true love. But the author deftly weaves a story where they grow to trust each other and gives the reader a satisfying happily ever after.
