Give a brief description of the story.

For the Anderson family, Rockwell is the picture perfect small town. A wholesome place to start over. But as the autumn days begin turning to winter something is awakened deep within the woods. Something bent on revenge.

Cut off from the rest of the world they must fight to stay alive as the haunting presence lays claim to Rockwell, exposing the dark secrets of the town that created it.

What did you think the author did particularly well?

The author does a great job creating multiple characters that you connect with and care about, which is key to creating the tension and suspense necessary to keep the reader on edge. The characters are also well-developed, therefore easy to differentiate which leaves the reader free to concentrate on the story rather than struggling to remember who’s who.

What was your favorite thing about the story?

The creepy. I am a HUGE horror fan, but often disappointed with horror movies/books. The author created a perfect set-up of the town cut off from the rest of the world, had an evil with a history and a purpose, and had characters acting in reasonable ways given their situation. But when it’s all said and done, it’s ALL about the creepy for me. And this book had it. If the cover alone doesn’t creep you out, take a closer look.
