Give a brief description of the story:
Rafe Sullivan is private investigator from Seattle. He has seen the worst in humanity in the course of his career, and is jaded, and more than a little world weary. He purchases his family cabin on the lake after the property has been out of family hands for many years, and retreats there to restore it and take a much needed vacation. Brooke Janssen has always been good, has always made safe, responsible, rational decisions. So when the Sullivan she always had a crush on finally moves back to the lake, she discovers he’s even more amazing than when they were kids. The relationship that ensues is fraught with distrust, turmoil, and a lot of hot loving.
What did you think the author did particularly well?
The characters were amazingly well drawn. Their hangups were believable and drove the story, but weren’t so overdone that it was melodramatic.
What was your favorite thing about the story?
The relationship between Brooke and Rafe was hot. They were by turns sinful and sweet, and it made each scene sizzle.
If you’ve loved Bella’s San Francisco Sullivan series, you’ll love this book. It’s the beginning of a whole new branch of the Sullivans, and each of them promises to be as good as the SF series was.
